Miraku Japanese Restaurant, G Hotel Penang
It was my first time to Miraku, Japanese restaurant at G Hotel last weekend. I heard good reviews from my friends about Miraku before so I was glad to be able to experience the food there for the first time.
Miraku, means a great place for customers to enjoy great food. I have to agree that the food is top notch with fresh ingredients and a very wide variety of Japanese offerings. When I walked in, I saw quite a number of Japanese guests packed in the restaurant for dinner. I’m sure that conclude my friends’ opinion that the taste of food in Miraku is authentic and nice.
The fine dining restaurant decorated with warm tones of wood and earth colors, designed to provide art of Japanese dining with placed tables and tatami rooms. I like the tatami rooms, reminded me of my stay in Japan Bola Bola Guest House few years back. There is a sushi bar as well and you can watch the chefs prepare fresh meals for guests.
Miraku Restaurant was stablished under the Texchem Group of Companies with goal to bring the best of Japanese culinary to Malaysia. With the best and experienced chefs directly brought in from Japan, Miraku is marked to satisy any food connoisseur’s taste bud. The restaurant situated at G Hotel, Gurney Penang with total land area 4568.53 sq feet can accomodate approximately 130 customers at one time.
Air flown sashimi will reach the restaurant every Tuesday and Friday, so my best bet is visit the restaurant the next day to taste the fresh Sashimi?!

Sashimi Moriawase “Matsu” RM180
Sashimi Moriawase is one of the best meal I have in Miraku Restaurant. I love the delicacy consisting fresh raw seafood, sliced into thin pieces and when I took it together with Wasabi paste, it tasted just great.

Kobe Beef Steak RM200/100gram
Kobe Beef Steak consider premium and unique because you cannot get it in Malaysia. While it is expensive, it is worth trying because it is hard to get Japanese Kobe beef in this country. When I put the beef in my mouth, I can understand why Kobe beef is costing so much. The beef was tender with exquisite juicy flavor, and intense marbling. It is difficult to explain so I guess you’ll just have to let the taste speak for itself.

Last but not least is the high quality ice cream that is so delicious and I can never have enough with only a single scoop.
Honestly, I’m a bit surprised to find a restaurant in Penang which is equally good as the ones I used to visit when I was in Japan. The ambience makes Miraku an exciting place with different experiences, for once there is no hint that I’m still in Malaysia. I enjoyed everything ordered in the extensive authentic Japanese menu and the meal was a success. Excellent and fresh sushi I would say, and for sure I’ll definitely be back.
